I have a warning for parents with depressed teens, especially girls. When my daughter was depressed, she started cutting herself with scissors. Not suicide attempts, but she'd cut herself a few times a day. She said it helped her cope. 

 

Please watch for this in depressed teens. Apparently it's common among young girls.
