Exercise and Depression

Millions of Americans suffer from depression. While many of these people will need prescription medication in order to cope with their depression, there are a number of other things that can help alleviate depression symptoms. For instance, exercise can greatly help reduce depression symptoms.

Exercise is often effective at treating mild to moderate depression. What's great is that researchers think that any kind of exercise can help depression. Getting at least 20 to 30 minutes of exercise at least three times a week is recommended, however. Be sure to choose an activity that you enjoy so that you won't be tempted to drop your exercise regimen.

To be safe, you should talk with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
