Food and Drug Administration (FDA): The U.S. agency within the Department of Health and Human Services that regulates and monitors the safety of food, drugs, medical equipment, cosmetics, etc.
flavinoids: A set of fragrant compounds found in plants and flowers.
genetic: Refers to inherited traits and characteristics that determine an individual's physical attributes as well as personality.
grief: An incredible feeling of sadness or sorrow caused by some loss.
habituation: The development of tolerance, as well as physical and emotional dependence, on a particular substance.
hormone: A chemical substance that flows through the bloodstream to either stimulate or stop certain biological activities.
hypertension: High blood pressure that is above 140/90 for a period of more than six months.
hypomania: A mild type of mania that is marked by an elevated mood, increased sex drive and excessive social behavior.
insomnia: A condition marked by problems falling, staying or getting enough sleep.
